September

Well, I've been quite busy lately, which would explain why I haven't posted for a good while. Between school/work, company, typical house work, the gym, and going home, there just hasn't been the time. Despite being on-the-go constantly, things have been going rather well. With any luck, I'll have all of my samples counted by the end of next week. I'm very much looking forward to not having to spend my days staring through a microscope. (Perhaps then I won't see zebra mussel veligers everytime I close my eyes.) After that, I just have to pull my substrates, and then analyze data and write write write. I took a quick look at some of my numbers today, and it looks like I might actually have some substantial results, which is exciting, especially since Jon wants me to go to a conference in Tucson, AZ in April. I'm kind of excited about it, seeing the desert and actually flying. Although, taking my first flight with Jon seems a little strange. Oh well.

Jaime and her boyfriend, Paul, came to the Toledo area to visit Ian and me. We went to the zoo, cooked ourselves dinner, and just generally hung out and had a good time, as times with Jamie always are.

I got home again for Steven's birthday. It wasn't the best weekend weather wise, so there was a lot of cuddling on the couch. Of course, I'm certainly not complaining. It was a very good weekend. I can't wait for fall break. Even more so, I can't wait till May when I can move back to northwest Pennsylvania and be close to all the people and things I love, especially my sweetie.

As for other things, there's really not a whole lot. I'm excited about it being Fall -- my favorite season. Too bad I can't be somewhere that actually has trees and that country fall feel. *snners* I'm trying to get back into shape by Christmas. I've started poking around for job opportunities. My lab is going well. I have a pretty fun group of kids which makes it quite a bit more enjoyable.

That pretty much sums up my life right now. Exciting, I know.

The good, the bad, and the ugly.

The Good: Labor Day weekend:
1) Steven Time
2) Hoss's and Beerfest with Steven, Jamie and Paul. Good friends, good food, and a good movie. What more can you ask for?
3) Annual Family Corn Roast -- family, food, and throwing corn cobs out the front door for the pig. I love the country.
4) The Great Stoneboro Fair with my honey -- speaks for itself
5) Seeing Joey (but not nearly long enough)
6) More Steven time
7) Saw Invincible with Steven

The Bad: This week:
1) Wiped out on the roller blades for the first time all season -- scraped all the skin off my knee and hurt my shoulder.
2) Spilled alcohol, a commonly used scientific perservative, on my polarizer, apparently ruining it. Now I can't get any work done until I get a new one. Very VERY poor design on the manufactures part. *grrr* Bastards.
3) Wiped out a second time on the blades, injuring myself even further. Now I have a skinless elbow and wrist to match my knee, and managed to hurt my other shoulder and a few fingers. I generally just really really hurt right now. I really hate sticks. Love Trees. Hate sticks.

The Ugly: My knee, elbow, wrist, and hands.
