Cabin Fever

There hasn't been much excitement in my life lately, but someone demanded that I update, so I'll fill you all in with everything that may be of any interest to you.
I saw the Bowfin eat a fish. That was quite exciting. I was delighted really. He really is an awesome fish. That was the whole highlight of one of my weeks earlier this month.
I had a good weekend at least. Steven came over (with a dozen roses *Grin*). We didn't do anything especially exciting. Relaxed mainly, but it was much needed relaxation. We went to the movies/mall on Saturday. We saw Firewall, which was a good movie, but not incredible. I'm glad to have seen it, but could care less if I ever see it again, really. Afterwards, we wandered around the mall. I soon found myself feeling quite sick, as usual everytime I find myself in a shopping situation. I always go to the mall, get sick, then not go for a long enough period of time that I actually forgot how miserble I was the last time I went and think that it would be fun to go again. You won't be finding me in a mall again anytime soon. I am quite grateful for internet shopping. If i could grocery shop that way as well, I certainly would. Anyway, we ate Chinese, which was tasty, and made Borders our last stop. Steven bought Bill Brysons "A Walk in the Woods" audio cd set (whch is now on my computer....Arrrrr, matey!!). This offered us a few moments of entertainment, and will be quite nice to have on long drives, and trips.
Speaking of long trips....*Grins*....Steven and I have been planning a vacation to Maine/Nova Scotia. I am incredibly excited. We're planning on camping in Baxter State park and near Acadia. Our trip will entail boat rides, WHALES, PUFFINS, hiking up or around or in the vacinity of Mt. Katahdin, more spontaneous hiking, seals, and other spontaneous things, and camping, and oh.....it will be a great adventure indeed. Had you not guessed, I am particularly excited about the whales and puffins. To sum it all up....I can't wait.
With all of this trip planning and Bill Bryson listening/reading, I have come down with a rather serious case of Cabin Fever. We got one of our field equipment orders in today too, which really did not help matters at all. I'm chomping at the bit to get outside (without freezing my tail off). Biking, hiking, kayaking, camping, field work. It all awaits. But I'm tired of waiting. Ohio winters, I have found, are definatly lacking. The misery of bitter cold and wind without the fun of snow. Without snow, what fun is winter really? None at all. (with the exception of spending an entire cold, miserable, winter day in your pjs) I can only hope that spring comes early here.
I have been watching the winter Olympics. Quite a lot. Probably more than I should, but I really just love the olympics. Of course, watching everyone outside playing in the snow really hasn't helped my cabin fever at all. I've mostly been watching Canadian coverage, since it is much better than NBC. I'm always delighted by beaver commercials. But I've found myself rooting for Canada more any other country, including the US. heh heh. Canada Rocks.
And that's really all I have to say.
