Cabela's, chololate, and alcohol.....
So its been a few days, I know. My friend, Andrea, was here Sunday through this morning, taking a break from her drive from Wisconsin to Pennsylvania. It had been well over a year since I had seen her, so it was very good to see her again and catch up. She showed me all sorts of pictures from her year in Germany and side trips to Ireland, Scotland, and well, all over the place.
When she arrived on Sunday, I cooked up a nice dinner (which I was quite proud of). We stayed in, eating and talking, and wrapped up the day with Red Dwarf -- just like in the good old days at Allegheny.
On Monday, I took her out to the LEC to show her the lab, meet people, and help me feed my fish. Afterwards, we headed off to Cabela's, otherwise known to outdoor enthusiasts as Heaven. I discovered that it is only a 30 minute drive or so to get there. Quite dangerous for my bank account. I also found it interesting that as soon as I crossed the state line into Michigan, all felt right with the world again. I was no longer in Ohio. Andrea and I were quite thrilled to be in Michigan, and we were quite silly about it. As for Cabela's, it was....well, Cabela's. No words can do it justice. We spent a good time there, surrounded by all sorts of things we'd love to spend our money on. I was good however, and only bought christmas presents (except for my rabbit fur mad bomber hat which is oh so warm and fuzzy).
After Cabela's, we went to Russell Stoffers, so Andrea could buy lots of chocolate to give away as christmas presents. And after that, we discovered a winery, where, naturally, we had to go wine tasting. It was quite good, and Andrea bought lots of alcohol to give away for christmas presents as well. I must say, she has some very lucky family members.
Dundee Michigan: Cabela's, chocolate, and alcohol....what a great place.
As for the rest of her visit, we listened to christmas music and put together a puzzle. Quite a wild time, I know. We need to learn to tone it down a bit. Anyway, the puzzle was rather difficult, with some very odd shaped pieces. We got it done, however were quite dismayed to find a piece missing. Considering it was a newly opened puzzle, I think it may have never existed. I really like the puzzle though, so I may have to make that piece myself and give the squirrel the top of his head. Poor thing.
